My name is Taylor Ibbott, and my Grade 12 Capstone is dedicated to raising awareness about gender-based violence (GBV). This project is inspired by my aunt, Trina Hunt, one of the 1,125 women lost to gender-based violence in Canada between 2011-2021.
As part of creating awareness, I sold over 1,125 purple tulip bulbs, each representing a life lost. Not only were purple tulips my aunt's favourite but the colour purple also represents solidarity in the fight to end GBV. I raised $3,000, and donated it to the Battered Women's Support Services.
How You Can Help
PLEASE DONATE $10. My goal is to spread awareness getting 1,125 donors. With a gift of $10 you become one of the 1,125 donors each standing for a life that was tragically lost.
During the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence I am striving to create an annual bursary for women personally impacted by GBV and pursuing education as part of rebuilding their lives or for women involved in activism or community work related to GBV.
Please share this GoFundMe with 10 of your friends. My goal is to reach as many people as possible.
Where Your Donation Goes
All donations go directly towards establishing a scholarship/bursary fund for women impacted by GBV in partnership with The Port Moody Foundation.
*Please donate $10 as the goal of this GoFundMe is to reach 1,125 people. Once we are set up with the Port Moody Foundation, tax receipts can be issued for larger donations if you are interested.
By contributing, you are helping build something that lasts beyond one project- you are helping create a legacy of hope, year after year.
