Help for the family of Bryan Sotelo
Donation protected

This past summer Bryan Sotelo, an otherwise playful and healthy 11 year old from Allen, Texas, was paralyzed after catching what doctors now believe is the potentially deadly Enterovirus D68 .
On July 31st, Bryan was admitted to Children's Medical Center in Dallas for a very high fever and a paralyzed right arm. Bryan was immediately taken into the ICU where he stayed for one month. During that first month he experienced respiratory failure and for Transverse Myelitis , a very rare and serious disease which affects the spinal cord. He suffered several episodes of pneumonia.
Bryan is now in a more stable condition. His right arm remains paralyzed and he cannot walk as his legs are very weak. He had a tracheostomy done and spends six hours every night on a ventilator. Although his condition may seem bleak, he has slowly progressed. When he was brought to Our Children's House at Baylor in October, he couldn't even speak, but now he is once again chatting with his brother and cousins. Bryan is getting fitted for his very own wheelchair.
Bryan is a very brave little boy; his condition progresses slowly but surely. Although he can now be seen speeding down the hospital halls in a wheelchair and chatting up the staff, his mother, Yadira Garcilazo, is very worried. The medical bills keep adding up and the family has no means to pay them. Bryan’s mother was forced to quit her job in order to stay with her sickly son and the boy’s father cannot make ends meet. His younger brother, who is only one year younger than Bryan, misses playing with his older brother and just wants to have Bryan back.
Bryan and his family need all the support in the world right now. The money can help Yadira and her family with travel expenses, medical bills, household bills, etc.
We ask you to please donate. Every donation matters, no matter the amount.
Also, we ask that you keep Bryan and his family in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thank you.
