Hi, my name is Kimberly and I’m fundraising for my younger brother, Trevor & his young family of 5. Below is his story. Thank you for visiting us and feeling called to show up here.
In May 2018, my brother Trevor was diagnosed with Stage 3b Colon Cancer, resulting in ER Surgery, removing the tumor mass and multiple lymph nodes, 6 testing positive for cancer. His world became new instantly, leaving no choice but to make radical changes.
As a young 31 year old husband and father of a 2 year old son, with his second child due in October 2018, Trevor set his sights on full recovery and wellness. The radical change had a positive outcome, NED (No Evidence of Disease) in July 2018. He was in remission, until he wasn’t.
In December 2020, and with a 3rd baby due January 2021, he received news from a routine blood test that his numbers had jumped. A CT Scan confirmed that the cancer had returned, metastasizing in his lungs, Stage 4 Colon Cancer.
With his holistic and Oncology team, they made a new plan, after 6 months of alternative treatments it was time to give chemotherapy a try. Trevor has underwent and sustained through countless chemotherapy ‘cocktails’, radiation, CT/MRI scans, repurposed chemotherapy drugs, and holistic modalities throughout these long hard-fought years; so many enduring seasons of healing in many ways has brought him new challenges, side effects, and the need for support.
While enduring his own medical journey, the 3rd baby who was due shortly after the new diagnosis, a baby girl we would come to welcome as Jane; a bright little heartbeat amidst our grief, began regressing around 4 months. Jane was admitted to CHOC immediately and through many tests, scans, misdiagnoses, the doctors finally discovered that Jane was born with a gene mutation causing severe infantile spasms/seizures (ALG 13), a form of epilepsy. She is 1 of 20 known cases.
To say that this young family of 5 has a load to carry is why I feel called to come alongside them and walk with them in support; financial, spiritual, community, and encouragement.
