Belize is a small country in Central America where Type 2 diabetes is one of the leading causes of death.   According to the International Diabetes Federation Diabetes Atlas ninth edition, 463 million people are living with Diabetes.  One in 11 adult has diabetes and one in two adult has diabetes and does not know it.  Belize, like many other countries, have had its share of the increase of its population living with diabetes and with  the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, people living with diabetes and chronic kidney disease struggled as they tried to manage their condition.  

Many persons living with diabetes in Belize end up having chronic kidney disease.  That’s why both organizations are embarking on this fund-raising drive.  We are extending an invitation to you to save lives in Belize - giving you an opportunity to assist us in reducing the number of people dying from diabetes and chronic kidney disease.

The Belize Diabetes Association and the Kidney Association of Belize are not-for-profit organizations and they assist the Belizean community in educating them about Diabetes and kidney disease and raise funds to pay for dialysis and diabetes testing for persons living with these conditions.    

Every dollar counts.  Your donation will pay for dialysis (Hemodialysis) equipment, ongoing dialysis treatment for our members, A1C tests, diabetes supplies, diabetes screening and educational awareness of the lifelong complications of these conditions.
