We read and hear a great deal about the Criminal Justice System and its response to the Black community, especially the Black Man. Unfortunately, some of us experience it first hand. This is the situation my friend and distance cousin, Anthony W. (Ant) Turner finds himself in.
Anthony is an accomplished Base Guitar Musician and has played for some of the greatest Preforming Artists over the past thirty years, both in concert and in the recording studio. Singers such as Betty Wright, Ike and Val Woods, KC and the Sun Shine Band, Benny Latimore, just to name a few. Anthony, a native of Miami, received his BS Degree from Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Fl. He recently enrolled in the Masters Program at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida but his academic goals were cut short.
On April 06, 2018 Anthony found himself in a life threating situation that compelled him to defend his life or possible be killed. Doing this altercation, he suffered sever head and facial wounds. He along with his attacker was rushed to the emergency room. Anthony's head trauma left him disoriented, confused and unable to remember what had taken place. He could not give a statement. However due to the statement given by the other party, Anthony W. Turner was arrested with unfounded charges. He was denied Bond and has been incarcerated since the date of his arrest. Anthony has been scheduled for seven (7) Felony Sounding Hearings followed by seven (7) Trial Dates by the Public Defender's Office which have all been CONTINUED
(Cancelled).
There are always two sides to every story. Anthony has not been allowed to tell his story or to be given Bond. We as citizens are guaranteed rights under the Judicial system. This system, once again, is not working for the Black Man, especially one that can not afford an Attorney. Anthony needs his own representation and not depend upon the Public Defender's Office to defend him. This office just doesn't seen to be working on Anthony's behalf. Therefore, I am pleading for your assistance. Anthony needs your donations to hire an Attorney. He needs a Bail Hearing so that he can be bonded out of Jail. He is not a threat to anyone and has NEVER been arrested or charged with a violent crime. Ant needs his day in court with a reputable Defense Attorney that will fight for him. PLEASE, PLEASE give what you can ! I am begging you to help me help Anthony and together, we can get him out of Miami Dade County West Correctional Facility by Christmas. This is my prayer.
