Hi, my name is Eleni (leo), I'm 21 years old and about 6 months ago I adopted my best friend, Matilda, a little 40 pound, cow spotted, loving, 2 year old pitbull. Ive always wanted a pitbull, I have loved and supported the breed for years and now that I finally have one she suddenly needs an expensive and time sensitive surgery on her knees.
I wanted to adopt an adult pitbull because so many need homes and I knew I had the experience, time and patience to work with a dog that may be a little fixer upper. I work at a doggie daycare and I bring her with me often to play with the dogs, and so I can train her and keep her with me as much as possible. anyone that knows matilda and I knows how hard I've worked on her and trained her to get her to where she is now, a sweet, social, smart, well behaved little pitty. I have called her my lifes work because thats how important she is to me, every free minute I have I spend with her, and if I can't get the money for this surgery in time, I have no choice but to give her up. Working in the pet industry has taught me that it isnt as easy as it sounds to just give your dog to a rescue, they are usually full up which leaves only humane societies and other shelters that will definitly put her down for her knee problems, even though after surgery she could resume an active, full life. I would never forgive myself if that happened.
she hobbles around on three legs right now, lifting the worse injured of the two back legs up, and putting lots of pressure on the other injured leg, so she is further injuring herself every time she walks which is why this surgery is so time sensitive. if her other leg goes out before I can get her the surgery it will be immensly painful for her to walk, if she can walk at all. I have about 2 weeks to get approximatly $2500 which will be used for the surgery itself, x rays, anesthesia, pain meds, a butt sling to hold her rear up when healing and going potty and a few other medical expenses related to the surgery.
this dog is my world, I love her to the moon and back, I can't imagine giving her up or worse. please help with what you can so I can keep my best friend, dress her up in pink sweaters, take her with me wherever I go and hear her snore at night. anything will help, you are literally saving a life and I would be eternally greatful.
