“As some of you know, I finally went down for the first time on my bike..
July 10th I went down pretty good, the bike came down one my right leg and did quite the number on it, lost 10cm of bone from my tibia bone, and a large amount of tissue. Overall no other serious injuries, small bone break on my wrist, and some road rash also on my legs.
After the accident I was immediately lifeflighted to Vanderbilt in order to save my leg, I thought it was maybe 20 minutes from when I wrecked to when I was in the air, turns out it was closer to an hour so l must have been in and out of consciousness without realizing.
Right now, I am 4 surgeries in with one plate holding stuff in place temporarily. First two surgeries were Debridement surgeries (cleaning everything), 3rd was a tissue flap (the worst), and 4th was a skin graft to cover the flap and damage to my ankle. Overall everything has been going as good as possible thanks to the amazing doctors and staff at Vanderbilt.
I will be coming back August 15 to have a temporary rod put in my leg in order to grow the bone back, but for now I can leave the hospital on bed rest.”
As of current knowledge the recovery time will be approximately 8-9 months.
