Hello my name is Ray Blanchard and I'm reaching out to those that may be able to help me in my time of need.
On October 31st, 2023 I was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath. After a few tests in the E.R. I was told that I had suffered a heart attack. This was just the beginning of my day.
There were more tests administrated by the doctors and the news was not good. My heart was shot. It is broken and beyond repair. I have not one artery blocked, but eight; ranging from 95% to 100% blockage. I am not a candidate for surgery as I am told, "There is nothing to work with." On top of that I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes and neuropathy in the feet and legs.
I'm now informed that my heart is working at 20 percent. The best I can hope for is a heart transplant down the road, but even that option is highly doubtful. I was taking ten medications on a daily basis that help with heart functions, circulation and the diabetes. I no longer can afford these medications since losing my job, health and life insurance in May.
I have been off of work since Halloween of 2023 and the short term disability has run its course, leaving me with no income and a thick stack of medical bills. I have been selling off my personal possessions in order to get by on a daily basis. I was forced to move in June before eviction proceedings began in July. I'm told I'll never work again and I'm currently in the process of setting up long term disability, however there is a lengthy time table involved.
I had my heart attack at 46 and consider it a small miracle I made it to 47. I live each day now knowing I could go at anytime. It is my wish to avoid medical bankruptcy and not leave a stack of debt in the middle of the kitchen table for anyone to concern themselves over.
The life I once knew is gone forever. Each day is a struggle as I am constantly worrying over money, adding stress and anxiety to a weak heart. And with that, I reach out to friends, friends of friends and strangers for help in anyway possible.
Thank you for your time, consideration and generosity. God bless you.
