I’m reaching out during one of the hardest times of my life. I’m a single mom to a 19-month-old, currently going through a separation. My sister came to stay with me to support me emotionally — but sadly, life took a painful turn.

A few weeks ago, she suddenly developed a serious brain-related condition and had to be rushed to the emergency room. She was admitted immediately, even before her insurance coverage started. Since then, she has been undergoing daily tests and treatments, but doctors are still searching for clear answers.

As a visitor here, her hospital costs are extremely high — about $2,000 to $3,000 per day. I am fully responsible for her care, but as a single mom, I simply cannot manage these medical bills on my own.

We cannot send her back to India right now, as doctors say she must be stabilized and treated here before travel can even be considered.
