Colby's emergency vet bills
Donation protected
Hi there,
Colby, our baby boy, has suffered an unexpected and rapid decline in health. Back at the start of November, he contracted kennel cough and was on antibiotics. He recovered well and was doing fine up until a week ago.
Over the last couple of days, he's refused to eat food and has not been able to drink much water. On top of this, he has been throwing up bile and coughing out mucus/fluid as well. We were able to secure an emergency appointment at our local veterinary clinic for this morning - but on our way over to the clinic he collapsed.
He was hooked up to a breathing machine and IV, and treated with antibiotics. We were given the news that Colby has severe pneumonia and fluid/build-up in his lungs. Due to the severity of the situation at hand, they suggested that he be transferred over to a 24-hour emergency clinic for on-site care.
Unfortunately, these veterinary bills have blindsided us and the quotes were much larger than what we currently have set aside for his medical bills:
- The last-minute appointment with the local clinic to stabilize him has already cost us $2,200
- The 24-hour emergency clinic quoted for about $8,000 to $10,000 for a 4-5 day stay
It's a lot to ask for, but anything helps. If you could please share this page it would mean a lot to our family, as our youngest is extremely sick and needs any support he can get.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this. Please send Colby baby your best wishes and energy as he makes his way to a (hopefully) speedy recovery!
