Hi,
I'm a 23 year old queer nb person in Texas trying to get out of a homophobic and abusive household. I'm trying to keep myself somewhat anonymous as to not out myself and risk being kicked out before I have the means to make sure that I'm in a safe environment. My family has a long history of mental illness, especially bipolar disorder. Lately, my mother has been getting a lot worse, and I'm the one suffering from the verbal and emotional abuse as a result. It's gotten to the point where it's affecting my own mental health, and I can't stay in this environment due to concerns for my own well being. I've been struggling a lot with suicidal thoughts, and I'm worried that things will only get worse if I don't get out of this situation. On top of the emotional abuse, everyone in my household is homophobic. I'm really concerned that I'll be kicked out if I'm outed to them. I don't have financial freedom seeing as how my mother has always taken the majority, if not all, of my paychecks when I was working. And I'm currently unemployed due to the pandemic.
I have a friend in another state who's willing to help me move closer to them, and has already found an affordable place for me to stay, provided I can pay the downpayment ($1100). The money from this gofundme will go towards the downpayment and hopefully 2nd months rent, as well as a blow up mattress, food, toiletries, and any other expenses while getting on my feet once I've moved. I desperately need to get out of this toxic and abusive household, and I need to be somewhere I know I'll have a support system. I'm hoping to be able to move by October, but preferably sooner. I've already started sending out job applications in the city I'll be moving to.
I know times are tough right now, and I really appreciate anything that anyone is able to donate.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thanks in advance to anyone who donates and/or shares this.
