On April the 8th my son Dakota Cook was shot and killed by his wife in their home here in North Augusta, SC. This tragic loss has left us without our son and has affected every aspect of our life. It has also brought into our life four wonderful children (Bella, Bryson, Brayden and Emmalin) which we were not initially prepared for. Two of our largest hurdles was the fact that we did not have a vehicle big enough to transport everyone and our home was not big enough for a family of seven.
Within just a few months we were able to raise in excess of 15,000.00 from our families, community, our local church, surrounding churches and also several anonymous donors. We also had several very generous material donations from local businesses. With the monetary donations, material donations and some hometown heroes generously giving of their time, we have been able to purchase a 2004 Suburban for 4000.00 and add most of a 768 sq ft addition to our home.
We only need to raise another 6000.00 to complete the expansion/addition project.
This addition will allow me and my wife a master bedroom with a full bath. Bryson and Brayden will be able to share a bedroom with a full bath. My youngest daughter will have her own bedroom and the younger girls (Bella and Emmalin) will share a bedroom. The three girls will also have their own full bath. This addition also adds a separate dining room to our home allowing us a larger dining room table, additional cabinet space, and a larger Oven/Stove.
My wife and I are investing all that we can into the project just to keep it moving forward, but we really have several issues that are time sensitive. The roof is currently covered in synthetic felt, so we need to get the roof purchased and installed. That's at least 2800.00 (which 2800.00 is a blessing). We need about 500.00 to finish electrical and framing items before rough-in inspection. Other items that are not as time sensitive are insulation, which will be about 700.00, siding will be about 1100.00 and paint, range hood, sinks, toilet, lights, vinyl..... 900.00 +
Thank you for taking the time to read this short description of our family's need. I hope you will join us by supporting this positive step in our family's future. Thanks again and God Bless.
Mark, Diana, Dallis, Bella, Bryson, Brayden and Emmalin.
