John Nguyen has been a permanent fixture on the southwest side in most stations and at more fires than most firefighters. He is the guy behind the camera! You will never see him without it! He has been taking pictures of fires and MVAs in Houston since 2007. He attends most HFD events capturing the life of Houston's finest.
In December 2014, while visiting station 75, John suffered a hemmorraghic stroke. He spent the end of the year at Hermann Memorial. Thank you to the over 200 visitors that passed through those doors to offer support. John was released home at the New Year. Since he had no insurance, TIRR and other rehabilitation centers he desperately needs won't take him. He is home with family making a go on his own.
John is mentally sharp, but has double vision in his left eye and almost no vision in the right eye. He has no hearing in the right ear either. He is improving daily, and manages walking with assistance around the home in in his immediate neighborhood. He has a difficult road ahead of him. His room is geeked out with everything computers as you would expect, but it is special in another way. He is surrounded by HFD memorabilia he has collected over the years. John is a part of this family.
He sends special thank to Christian and Brad from station 75 who were instrumental in saving his life that day. He remembers Christian telling the doctors, ' take care of him, he is one of ours."
It's true, He is!!! Please continue to support John with prayer. We are setting up this fund to support the huge medical bills and rehabilitation costs expected to get his strength back. John has recently gotten health insurance. David Dean visits him regularly, and David will continue to update us on John's progress.
Meanwhile, any donation will ease some of the future burden of medicals costs.
Thank you.
All proceeds will deposit directly to John Nguyen.
