Hello, beautiful souls! I'm Nadezhda Lei, and I'm on a mission to bring a wave of hope to the wonderful kids of SUMBA, Indonesia. "Nadezhda" means "Hope," and this time, I want to turn that meaning into a tangible reality for these resilient souls. Back in 2017, I crossed paths with these incredible children for the first time. Their infectious positivity and vibrant energy were undeniable, but their living conditions were heart-wrenching. Picture this: irregular meals, no proper place to sleep, an open-air kitchen surrounded by dirt and mud. It was a stark contrast to the joy radiating from these kids. Driven by the desire to make a difference, I embarked on a journey of hope. With the support of the Slavic community, I secured initial funding and supplies, addressing some of their basic needs. Yet, this was just the beginning. Teaming up with my daughter, Claudia, we launched a monumental campaign—transforming trash into hope by collecting thousands of recyclable bottles. The success of this initiative meant that, for the first time, these children had three meals a day. However, life took an unexpected turn with the onset of COVID, leading to the loss of my husband and a temporary disconnection from the kids I held close to my heart. But dreams persisted. My dream of building a school, a sanctuary of learning where these children could not only receive an education but also have a space for homework and artistic endeavors. Now, I reach out to you, my fellow compassionate souls, seeking your support—be it financial or any other form.
