Wulfie's Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
We received Wulfric (aka Wulfie) from a wonderful rescue on October 27, 2014. A mere twelve days later, we almost lost him. What seemed to be a simple stomach issue due to new dog food and the stress from a transport, new home, etc...turned into a dire situation very quickly.
From vomiting to being almost unable to keep his balance, we rushed him to the vet emergency hospital in Deerfield, MA. We learned very quickly that his condition was dire and that he was severely dehydrated, his body temperature was 6 degrees below normal, and his blood pressure was unreadable. The Dr.'s quickly got him on warm saline and into warm blankets.
X-rays revealed a foreign object in his intestines. Surgery was scheduled for the following morning (when he was more hydrated and more able to tolerate anesthesia). When he started vomiting copious amounts of blood, emergency surgery was performed.
What was discovered was an acorn which had blocked his intestines and was basically killing him. It was successfully removed. He is in a lot of post-op pain, but he is going to recover fully.
This has left our family with a financial burden. His medical costs to date and moment are approximately $3,000. Any assistance to help Wulfie's health would be greatly appreciated.
