To our friends and family,

We are writing this letter to let you know that our beloved Daughter, Mother, Sister, Auntie, Friend, and most of all Re-Birth Heart-to-Heart Transplant Queen Faith Nekeya Scaggs, passed on Friday, August 19th, 2022. Faith, who co-parented with Ryan Cortez to a wonderful eight-year old boy named Troy Adonis Cortez. Faith had a heart condition known as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Which simply means her heart had a hard time pumping blood through her body. Troy was diagnosed with this condition when he was only six-months old and has been a brave little soldier ever since. 

A little history about Faith; at the age of fifteen, due to the abnormality of her heart, had to get a pacemaker to continue living a fulfilling life as a teenager and young adult. Shortly after giving birth in 2014 to Troy, she noticed a rapid decline in her overall health. After multiple hospital visits, we all learned that Faith was in the early stages of heart failure. As a result, she was placed on the heart transplant list but as her health continued to deteriorate, it was decided by the medical team that she had to get a Ventricular Assistive Device (VAD) implanted, so that her health would not continue to get worse. Through constant Prayer, on September 9, 2016, Mayo Clinic called Faith for a Heart match and was Re-Born on September 10, 2016!!!

 Every one of us has an abundance of good

memories with Faith which we will consider priceless for the rest of our lives. While it is easy to say Faith was taken too soon from us, being so young. We are thankful to have celebrated 32 years of her spirit and perseverance. Faith had a way of encouraging us all and showing everyone, she cared about, how to live life, and live it to the FULL. To ensure we can say a final farewell to our precious one, and ensure her son Troy is able to transition smoothly to a new life without his mother, we are asking for a small donation of any amount you felt led to give. All the money from this fundraiser will go towards settling any remaining bills, her funeral and Troy. Thank you and please continue praying for our family at this time in need.
