The Central City Robotics program has great news! Team 4156, RoboCats Red, has been invited to the FIRST World Championship in Detroit, MichiganBut the team needs your help to be able to attend.  The FIRST Championship is an amazing event held in downtown Detroit over 4 days and the team needs funds to register for the event, pay for travel and lodging, and bolster their robot design to be able to compete against the best robots in the world.  Many of our funds raised in the fall have gone to pay for registration fees for previous events as the team made another successful run to the Iowa Championship. We hope that you are able to support our six seniors and one junior enjoy this amazing opportunity! You may donate to the team and bypass the GoFundMe fee by writing a check to CCFAB with Robotics on the Memo line & sent to CCFAB, PO Box 105, Central City, IA 52214.

With the generous community support over the last year, our program was able to:

- Continue a robotics course that was started at the high school, which now has 14 students. Students learn programming, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and building skills, as well as the challenges of engineering.
- Support two teams, Team 4156 (RoboCats Red) and Team 11252 (RoboCats Black) that participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)  , with a total of 18 students participating.
- Support middle school participation in FIRST Lego League (FLL)

Team 4156 earned the following accolades:
* League Tournament Winning Alliance
* State Qualifier Semifinalist Alliance
* Iowa Championship Division Semifinalist Alliance

Team 11252 earned the following accolades:
* League Tournament Semifinalist Alliance
* League Tournament Design Award Winner

A school of our size in truly lucky to have robotics.
The teams have been generously supported by businesses and individuals from Central City and beyond. The teams sincerely thank all of those who help support our robotics program. Given the expensive nature of robotics, the program could not sustain itself without these generous donations. Any support provided would help the teams tremendously. Don't forget, many companies (like Rockwell Collins, AEGON, and many others) offer gift matching as an employee benefit. Your donation may be able to be matched by your employer even if you are retired!

Community support of the robotics program does more than just pay for parts.  Through building robots, our teams learn engineering design principles, computer programming, physics, and electronics.  More importantly, we learn teamwork and perseverance, meet new people across the country, and how to be gracious professionals.

We always continue to try expand our efforts and get even more students involved in the robotics program.  Along with plans to continue supporting the teams and course, we plan to engage younger students even more.  We have already started by participating in the Linn County Fair, where kids of all ages could take turns building and driving robots, and visiting all of the elementary classes during the school year. We also have plans for a summer camp. We believe that our program has the ability to grow and continue to share success with the Central City community.

With all of these plans for our two teams next year, we hope that your support can generate even more excitement in the program and help us reach our new goal of competing at the World Championship in Detroit .

Sincerely,

Wildcat Robotics
