I am doing this for my best friend's sister. Monica doesn't ask for anything, so asking for help with this isn't even on her radar. I would do anything for this family, and as of now, this is all I can do. I have goosebumps and tears streaming down my face, as I sit here thinking about this family and what they all are going through. Please help out in any way you can. It will be greatly appreciated.
As many of you know, Monica got the surprise of her life when she was 32 weeks pregnant with her first baby, and not a good surprise. She found out she had a very aggressive breast cancer.
This is devasating news for any woman, but even more so when you are in your last trimester. Being pregnant complicated things a lot. While most soon to be moms are preparing for a baby, Monica was preparing to fight for her life and her baby's!!
Preparations were quickly made to surgically remove the affected tissue and lymph nodes while she was still pregnant, risky but necessary. Monica was still working up until the day of the surgery and then returned to work only a few days later! The strength she has just amazes me.
It then was discovered that Monica has a dangerous genetic mutation, giving her only a 15% chance that the cancer will not return. Plans were made to induce labor early so that Monica could begin chemotherapy and radiation. She will also need a double mastectomy and possibly even more surgery.
After several days of induced labor, beautiful baby Natalie was born by emergency C-section. Not an ideal situation for a brand new mom, who is still recovering from breast surgery and is about to start chemotherapy.
After a couple of weeks, things were going well until it was discovered that baby Natalie has a milk protein intolerance and needs a very expensive formula, and since breastfeeding is not even an option, they have been purchasing this formual at the cost of $30 each day or two.
Monica has had two chemo treatments now, and is doing an amazing job as a sick plus very exhausted mom of a new baby!! Luckily family and friends have helped out with the baby as much as they are able when Monica is not feeling well. However, there is still the strain of expenses while she is out of work for the time being.
Any amount we can raise will hep with the huge cost of this special formula, as well as diapers, and any other costs associated with the cancer treatment such as travel and parking.
Let's help Monica out while she kicks cancer's butt!!!
Thank you all so very much for taking the time to read this story and finding it in your heart to help her, her husband, Tim, and the baby out!!!
From the bottom of my heart and the entire family...THANK YOU ALL!!!
