On Sunday January 10, 2021 Gunnery Sergeant Jonathan D. Morgan age 35 lost his battle to PTSD. Many military men and women fight the same battle every day that Jon fought. In 2019 alone, almost 500 military service members have lost the fight to this same battle. Service members everyday are having to step up and do more with less. They are consistently under pressure to perform and make things happen. Services members have always had one of the most extreme jobs in the world and are exposed to situations that no man or woman should have to go through. These encounters can become overwhelming and can add more stress to their everyday lives.
Gunny Morgan was described by his peers as an amazing Marine that took care of the Marines around him. Jon served in the Marine Corps for 16 years and deploy for a total of five times. From those five deployments, two of them were in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. For the last 4 years Jon has been attached to VMX-1, the Winged Lions. While stationed in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Gunnery Sergeant Morgan served as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative for the Avionics Division on the CH-53E and K. He has been described by many of his fellow Marines as being technically profound at his job. Even during his busiest times as a helicopter mechanic, Jon always found time to take care of his Marines. Jon was a Marine who left behind a legacy and an enormous impact to that will take years to replace.
Gunnery Sergeant Morgan leaves behind the love of his life Miguel. We are putting together this GoFundMe to help his husband out financially through this extremely tough time. Miguel will be out of work due to the extremely high emotional stress and the burden he is facing. Miguel will need help paying bills such as: mortgage payments, vehicle payments and everyday expenses. As we all know the financial part of our everyday lives will never stop even when the death of a loved one happens. We are asking for any amount of donation to help ease the pain for Miguel.
