On Thursday, January 21st, Doug was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a brain aneurysm which led to a hemorrhagic stroke. He is still sedated. The first few days have been difficult, as Covid first restricted any family contact and is now limiting the time that loved ones can spend with him.
Doug will probably remain in ICU for three weeks to be sure that he is stable and will then potentially face four to six months of rehabilitation.
We have been overwhelmed with friends and family who have let us know how very much Doug is loved and have expressed a desire to help. Doug is so strong, and we know that he is fighting and fighting hard. He is fighting for his wife, Debbie, his three children, and his six grandchildren. He is fighting for all of his family and friends who love him.
We anticipate that in addition to medical bills, Doug and Deb will be dealing with a reduced income and other extra costs related to his hospital stay and his return home.
Doug is the sweetest, most gentle man that many of us have ever met and the impact he has had on each of our lives is immeasurable. He is truly the thread that holds us all together. Any support that you are able to provide is greatly appreciated!
