Gypsy's Liver Transplant Fund

I'm Dan, known as Gypsy to most. In 2010 I was diagnosed with non-typical cancer in my pancreas. I was fortunate in that we caught it very early and was able to surgically remove it, along with my spleen and pancreas. For the next three years I was cancer free, but continued to have regular CT Scans to watch for it to return. In 2013 it did. This time it presented as lesions in my liver. Lots of lesions. After lots of testing it was decided to treat this cancer with chemo. It has been responding and I am living basically a normal life with my loving wife Mary Ellen. Earlier this year my oncologist asked me to be evaluated for a future liver transplant explaining that even though my liver is still functioning, there will come a time when the chemo may not control it. At that point, the only way to remove the cancer is to have a transplant. We all know how expensive that can be. While my insurance will cover most of the medical cost, its the daily living (travel to and from appointments, prescriptions, insurance co-pay, etc) that I will need help with. I will be unable to work for a minimum of three months, and I will be dealing with the effects of the transplant the rest of my life.

I'm normally to proud to ask for help. If it was just me, I probably wouldn't. But a transplant will affect my entire family and I do not want to see them struggle for MY illness. Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated, and will not be touched except for expenses directly related to my transplant, if I ever get one. If I don't, the funds will go to liver cancer research. That's my promise to you!
