Short Story :
Gypsy has been loosing weight since Christmas. I figured she was depressed, this being her first winter in Canada. When she started loosing her appetite, I decided to bring her in for some test. The vet felt a mass in her stomach so we did some bloodwork and xrays. They weren't conclusive so they sent her for an ultrasound. The ultrasound confirmed she had a 2.5 cm cancerous mass growing in her abdomen. If left untreated, they don't expect her to make it through the summer

Long Story :
For those of you who don't know Gypsy, here is her story :)

She is a rescue from Dominican Republic. My sister and I found her (and another dog) on El Choco road in Sosua, DR. It's a stretch of road where there is little-to-no daily traffic. Gypsy and the other dog were both in very rough shape; they were covered in ticks and fleas, and were heavily emaciated. Gypsy had recently given birth and still had milk in her breasts. Both were sleeping in the blistering sun with no food or water.

When we stopped the truck, Gypsy came right up to us, wagging her tale. We took both dogs and with the help of an amazing vet & shelter manager, they both got immediate care and attention. We paid for both their shots, and sterilization. Having 6 dogs at home already, I could not bring these dogs home with me so they slept at the shelter. I rode my bike there everyday to feed them and play with them in the fields. I fell in love with Gypsy. She was so playful and energetic and had so much love to give. I swear this dog smiled at me daily!

Our bound was so strong from day 1, she had to become part of the family.

With the help of my family, we have spent almost 1000$ so far and only scratched the surface of Gypsy's recovery. Unfortunately, I don't have sufficient funds to keep going :(

The next steps are to see an oncologist and analyse what the best treatment for Gypsy is.
The money I am collecting will go towards her future vet apointments, tests, surgery, etc.

Here are pictures of Gypsy fighting Cancer 28/05 :

She has lost all her weight and muscle mass. She is just as skinny as the day we found her. Her energy levels are still high and the vet confirms she is not yet suffering.

Thank you <3
