Gyne in Ghana

My name is Emily Eischen and I am a 2nd year OB-GYN resident at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. I was given the opportunity to join my attending Dr. Nicole Williams on a medical mission trip with Medical Ministry International this November. We will be spending a week performing life changing gynecologic surgeries and post operative care for women in Accra, Ghana.

Most hospitals in this region do not have gynecologists and surgeries are very costly. We will be operating on multiple patients per day with debilitating symptoms from gynecologic pathology such as uterine fibroids and ovarian masses. These women ordinarily would never have the opportunity to be seen by a surgeon.

I have a fundraising goal of $4000 to participate in this trip. This will help cover the cost of travel expenses, medical licensing, accommodations, and supplies. I would be grateful for any size contribution to help women in need! Thank you for your support!
