If you have ever heard the term “ Awesome Mom” than you may have been referring to our friend Monique Whitfield (38)Monique embodied this term whether it was her role as a “gym mom,” “soccer mom,” “volleyball,” “cheer mom,” “Band” or the BOMB dot com as the “Type 1 Diabetic Mom for Kayla” or everything in between mom for her beautiful Brianna and Kayla. Let us tell you about this amazing women. Monique was a loving wife to David For 15 yrs and their pride and joy were their daughters. Monique was that mom that was their constant cheerleader from the stands of all games during cheer, volleyball, or all across the USA from the spectator chairs of USAG gym meets. When cheering for her girls, she would often cover her eyes when the girls did their most advanced stunts, and of course that darn “beam” because she was forever being the protective mom, but at the same time, she challenged her girls to be their best and push beyond their limits. Monique worked full time at pierce st elementary, but her work didn’t stop there. She would leave the school and go to her second job at Elite Gymnastics, where she did everything there and where we became gym family. Of course it didn’t end there cause she would also have to get up all during the night when she had to check her daughters diabetes. On Friday 13th, Monique went to the doctor due to not feeling well, and next thing we knew, She was having quadruple bypass surgery with a aneurysm repair. She made it through surgery, but sadly her body just couldn’t handle it all. And just like that, our “fearless” leader, our rock, our constant source of support was gone. You see, Monique didn’t just cheer on her family... her family circle extended way past that. She was a forever cheerleader for every young girl that crossed her path. Monique had this hilarious, quiet, yet “OMG did she just say that” Monique “kept it real” in a way that just made you know everything was going to be ok. She was the “Momma Bear” and we know her last wish would be to know David and her girls are going to be taken care of. This is one way we can help our precious friend achieve that final wish.
