Hi All, I'm Kelly--Rick's cousin. We grew up as next-door neighbors in the summers at our favorite place in the world: Fenwick Island, Delaware. And we still are neighbors! My sisters, another set of our cousins next door to the Wilsons, and the Wilson kids hung out on the beach tossing the football, playing in the waves and being in each other's homes at any given time of the day. We were like siblings. I created the original post for this GoFundMe many months ago, and despite all efforts made, the tumor has grown again (Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive brain tumors) and at this point, all doctors can do is to keep Rick comfortable. He cannot walk on his own anymore, that's why he needs more care and it is too much for Yuki and Andrea to do on their own. The Wilsons are so grateful for the folks who recently donated, and we have increased the amount of the fundraising goal so Rick, Yuki, and Andrea can get the care and help they need. We are raising the goal to $60,000 on the Wilson's behalf. All donations are MUCH appreciated, and maybe we can exceed this goal like we did last time. Thanks everyone.
________________________________
As you know, Rick, Yuki, and Andrea have been through so much since Rick's diagnosis of Glioblastoma last summer. Between doctor appointments, treatments, and medications, life has been turned upside down for the Wilson family. This past summer, Rick's condition took a turn for the worse after a regrowth of the tumor in June and followed by a short radiation treatment. Rick started to experience frequent seizures, confusion, and a physical decline limiting his ability to manage self-care tasks. This was an extremely challenging time for the family as Yuki and Andrea worked together to provide care for Rick.
With Andrea off to college and with Yuki now back to work, Yuki has been managing daily life and Rick's care on her own. While there is wonderful support from friends and family, the Wilson family has needed additional home care for Rick during the day for safety purposes. With the prognosis of the disease, the situation will most likely remain very challenging.
Please consider offering your support to help defray the many costs the Wilson family has endured during this time. Any amount, even small, will support them during this difficult time. Thank you!
