Support For Bryan!

Donation protected
Bryan left Kansas last fall for a fresh start in Florida. While he was in Flordia, Bryan was able to make new friends and recently got a new job. The day before Bryan was supposed to start his new job, Bryan was fishing with some friends and had an accident. Unfortunately, this tragic accident has left him paralyzed. His friends pulled him out of the water and began giving him CPR until EMS arrived. Bryan needed emergency surgery to save his life and a second surgery about 48 hours later, all on his spine. He then spent the next 2-3 weeks on a ventilator also battling pneumonia. He eventually received a tracheostomy which has just been removed; he has also finally been moved out of ICU. Rehab is going to be a very long and challenging journey, we hope for Bryan to eventually be able to regain use of his arm, hands, and hopefully fingers if he is lucky. He atleast has no brain damage, praise God!

Another unfortunate part of this is that Bryan had no insurance at the time of the accident. The hospital applied for Florida Medicaid but this could take up to 6 months to get approved. In Florida, most rehabs do not accept Medicaid until approved so we are having a difficult time finding any options for the rehab he so badly needs to regain any potential movement. We were able to apply for insurance on the Kansas marketplace but the policy we applied for to cover what he would need is very expensive. We are hoping this will open up rehab options but it is all still unknown and very difficult to navigate.

Many friends and family have offered to help but at this time there isn't much besides the financial issues or any advice on rehabs, figuring out Medicaid/insurance and lots of prayers. If anyone would like to donate, these funds will go towards the many expenses that will not be covered by Medicaid and/or the private insurance. If we can get him into a good rehab that will take his new insurance (most likely only Kansas and the bordering states will take it) the transportation would not be covered and could cost over $20,000. We are trying to keep his spirits up while he realizes and comes to terms with his new reality. Getting him into rehab and ultimately back to Kansas are the current goals. After that there are so many unknowns but we know he will need to furnish and prepare a place to come home to and some costs will be covered but many will not so any funds here would also be used for these things.

Thank you to anyone reading this, for praying for him and his family and if you decide to donate, it is very appreciated. (Please also consider sharing this to reach as many people as possible.)
