On May 17th, I found out the black blob on my CT scan in the ER was a brain tumor. On June 26th, I had surgery to remove my tumor. The surgery was successful and my surgeon said if any was left, he couldn’t see it in the MRI. Recovery went well and I was feeling great to have it behind me. Then on my husband’s birthday, July 12th, we found out it was cancer. My tumor was Anaplastic Astrocytoma Stage 3 brain cancer. Due to the successful surgery, my treatment (6 weeks of daily radiation and chemo pills followed by 5 days a month of chemo for a year) will be focused on preventative measures. My oncologist says think of it as sweeping up after surgery. However with this diagnosis I have to take more time off of work. We also elected to preserve some of my eggs so they wouldn’t be destroyed during chemotherapy. Thankfully my insurance has been wonderful but it doesn’t cover the fertility expenses. Livestrong Fertility was amazing and donated my medicines needed for IVF and egg retrieval, but we are left to cover the cost of egg storage and of course the appointments and procedure and any future IVF costs after treatment. Any help would be very appreciated! We are so thankful and grateful for all the support we have received already. I truly have the best team on my side. We will get through this and use those eggs! If only we can pay them off! ❤️
