Help Katie on Her Road to Recovery

Supporting Katie King’s Healing Journey

We’ve been touched by how many family, friends, and colleagues have asked how they can help Katie (affectionately known as “Katie Bug”). Along with your love and prayers, financial support is a meaningful way to stand beside her on this journey.

On September 3, 2025, Katie was in a serious ATV accident that left her in critical condition. She sustained two fractures on the left side of her head and two fractures in her neck at the base of her skull. Since the accident, Katie has been in a coma as her body fights to heal. While the bleeding has thankfully stopped, she continues to experience brain swelling and remains under close watch.

Katie is a strong and devoted single mom with a long road to recovery ahead. She is receiving excellent care from the staff and medical teams at Southeast Medical Center, but her healing journey will come with many challenges — both physical and financial.

This fund has been set up to help ease the burden of medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and the daily needs of her and her child as she focuses on recovery.

Update (September 10):

Today brought a beautiful step forward — Katie was able to sip some water and even enjoy some applesauce, jello, pudding, and a popsicle! After a week without food, she was hungry, and this was such an encouraging moment. For now, her doctors are keeping her on a liquid diet, and swallowing remains a challenge due to her recent neck surgery. She is being closely monitored to ensure her safety and comfort as she continues healing.

The plan is for Katie to begin rehab at the start of next week, and now that she’s able to swallow and take in nourishment, we are moving closer to that goal. Communication is still very frustrating for her, but with time, patience, and therapy, we remain hopeful that each day will bring new progress.

At this time, it is still uncertain how long her recovery and downtime will be. The support from this fund will continue to help ease the burden of medical expenses and provide Katie with the resources she needs on this journey. We are endlessly grateful for your love, prayers, and generosity.
