This campaign is for my younger sister Keri, a wife and mother of 3 little girls ages 7, 6 and 2. Keri was recently diagnosed, at the age of 29, with Autoimmune Hepatitis, a non-trasmittable disease that can be hereditary or related to other autoimmune diseases (e.g. Lupus, RA). With this disease, a person's autoimmune system attacks the liver. The disease is chronic, has no cure, and if left untreated can lead to cirrhosis or even death.
In retrospect Keri had experienced symptoms of liver failure for years but it wasn't caught until the fall of 2015 when her skin and eyes turned yellow (borderline neon green) and was admitted to the hospital and subsequently diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis after 14 days of testing, monitoring and treatment. At that point it was also identified that her liver had significant cirrhosis. She was already in stage 2 of 3 liver failure.
Keri and her husband Chip are entrepreneurs and run two businesses out of their home. Both of which require their constant attention, but since Keri's health has been in decline and she is still in the process of finding her new "norm", she has not been able to run the businesses like she used to.
Since Keri's diagnosis she has been in and out of the hospital, each time having to stay multiple days, which has been taxing not only on their budget but on friends and family who have graciously incorporated the care of Keri's 3 girls into their lives and schedule.
As a family we have been helping Keri where we can, financially, emotionally, and with the kids and around the house. However, her medical expenses have become bigger than us, and our assistance is no longer sufficient.
Your kind donations will go strictly towards her medical expenses. She has a pile of outstanding bills and more on the way. Her monthly health care premium alone is roughly $1600. On top of that she has thousands of dollars worth of deductible from 2015 and 2016 waiting to be paid, as well as on-going medication expenses. This money will relieve one of the stressors in her life and give her reprieve in having to choose between caring for herself and caring for her family by not incurring more debt.
