URGENT NEED
Not many people are aware that our friend, neighbor, and former Select Board Member, Chris Isham Bassingthwaite had a terrible ski accident. On March 2nd, 2019 at Loon Mtn, while spending quality time with his family skiing, Chris broke not one, but both feet. His injuries are strangely rare, which are from the middle of his heels to the Achilles.
Chris is laid up with casting boots on both feet and cannot work, walk, or contribute to any needs around his home. This added responsibility on his wife Keri, leaves no time for work. She is now providing care for her husband 24/7. Please remember to keep them in your thoughts and prayers, as Chris will have a very long road for recovery and will need the support from his family, friends and neighboring Communities.
Chris is a member of the American Legion, a Veteran of the US Air Force, and a Christian man who is the sole provider for his family of five. He has a wife, 3 school age children, 2 of which attend Wentworth Elementary, grades 5th & 7th, and a Freshman attending Plymouth Regional High. He also has two other children, a son in the US Air Force and a daughter in College.
As we all know, with being a sole provider comes many responsibilities. No work means no income, which means no money for the bills. Every person, who owns a home has bills such as; a Mortgage, electrical, home fuel, a landline, Cable & Internet, cellphones, groceries for a family of 5, fuel for transportation to and from doctors, and to the kid’s extracurricular activities, along with the inevitable co-pays and/or medications.
As faithful supporters of Wentworth and its neighboring Communities, Chris and Keri have done three Annual Wild Game Dinner Fundraisers for the WES PTO. Chris has coached the Plymouth Thundercat’s baseball team in Plymouth for 4 years. Chris and Keri both share a passion in youth sports, for the children of Wentworth. They both have coached boy’s and girls’ basketball, and a co-ed soccer team. Keri has also started a Running Club 4 years ago and has done an Annual Adult Kickball tournament now for 3 years in a row. She also does an Annual Trunk or Treat for students at WES, around Halloween time and she does the Annual Turkey Trott.
As you have observed, they are involved and give selflessly and effortlessly of their time, and finances to keep our children active, healthy and involved. This alone, is a prodigious benefit and savings to the Wentworth Community, which ultimately protects your tax dollars.
Chris and his family by nature are generous people and now it’s time to Pay It Forward. Let’s say “Thank You” by giving back to the Bassingthwaite Family. Won’t you help today?
