My name is Kerry, many people know that I rescue kittens locally. On July 6, 2025 a friend of mine reached out to me about a kitten that was outside that she had found and asked me if I could take him in. After a few weeks, I took him in and noticed his rapid breathing. I suspected a diaphragmatic hernia which I have had experience with another Kitten exactly a year ago. This was confirmed through x-rays done by the Humane Society. I took him today to Jupiter Medvet and had a discussion with Dr. Baum. He also confirmed it’s a diaphragmatic hernia, and he will need surgery or he will die. This is when a tear happens in his diaphragm, and all the organs get pushed up to his chest cavity and can literally suffocate him by compromising his lungs. They have to do surgery to repair the tear and put everything back where it’s supposed to be. As of right now, OZZY is doing good although he is breathing fast because his intestines have made their way into his chest cavity, so his breathing is already slightly being compromised. He doesn’t show any signs of being in distress and is acting like a normal Kitten. He is almost 3 lbs 3 months old and has the sweetest personality. He purrs and make biscuits the instant you pick him up. I know a lot of people probably think I should just have him euthanized, but he’s just a baby and I have to try to save him, but I can’t do it without your help.
