Fire Cycle Fitness: Standing Together for David
If you’ve ever walked into Fire Cycle Fitness, you know it’s not just a cycling studio — it’s a family. From the very beginning, David built this place on connection, kindness, and the belief that movement heals more than just the body. This community didn’t just happen — it was created with intention, love, and a lot of heart.
If you’ve ever taken one of David’s classes, you know what it feels like to be seen, welcomed, and pushed to your best. Maybe you remember your first class — the smile at the front desk, the encouragement when you thought you couldn’t keep going, the way he remembers your name, your story, and your wins.
David gives — and gives, and gives. He shows up for people through postpartum recovery, through grief after losing a loved one, through milestones and moments big and small. He has been there for countless members when life felt heavy. And right now, it’s our turn to be there for him.
On August 10th, devastating floods hit Milwaukee and they hit him very hard. Moments before the flooding began, David was out on the streets of 84th, using one of his vehicles to help pull people from cars stuck in waist-deep water and get them to safety. When the waters reached the parking garage where his cars were parked, he was helping get people out of the garage and assisting others before even thinking about himself.
What he hasn’t talked about much is what he’s lost. All of his vehicles were destroyed in the flood. And because his cars are covered under commercial policies, it isn’t just one deductible — it’s a percentage of the loss for each claim. He now faces over $6,300 in deductibles from four separate claims, on top of the disruption to the studio, The studio is still without power and facing thousands of dollars in damage to our electrical panels. On top of that, we need to replace three AC compressors since we run three separate HVAC systems for our heated and cooled rides. The entire building’s electrical panel also has to be replaced — they’re working on getting us temporary power, but those panels will eventually need full replacement
Despite this, he has kept showing up for others — offering help, and doing whatever he can to support people who are hurting. But the truth is, the weight of this loss is heavy.
Many of us in this community have been fortunate — we weren’t directly impacted by the flooding. Now is the moment for us to come together and give back to the person who has spent his entire life giving to others.
If David has ever inspired you, encouraged you, or made you feel like you belong — we ask you to think of that moment, and consider helping him now. Every bit makes a difference.
Fire Cycle Fitness has always been about community. We started as one, we grew as one, and it’s the only way we’ll get through this — together.
❤️ Let’s show David that the love he’s poured into us comes back tenfold.
