Tax deductible
Even though the curve is thankfully starting to flatten for now, viral overload is a huge problem and there is STILL immense need especially in smaller underfunded hospitals. It is important we protect those who need it most.
The Association of Chinese American Physicians (ACAP) is focusing on getting lifesaving PPE to safety net hospitals located in underserved communities. These communities are the least prepared and their hospitals the least funded. Their people are the essential workers who can't stay at home, the undocumented immigrants without health insurance - those who make it so we can shelter-in-place while they keep our buses running, grocery stores stocked, and the rest of us safe.
We are asking for tax-deductible donations so we can make a large purchase order of PPE to support the worst hit safety-net hospitals in underserved communities in NYC. Our priority hospitals are: Elmhurst Hospital, NY Presbyterian Queens Hospital, Flushing Hospital, Brooklyn Hospital Center, and Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn.
While our goal is $50,000 and every dollar towards it will be put to immediate use to purchase PPE that will swiftly be distributed.

ACAP is a 501(c)(3) made up of 700+ member physicians mostly in NY, NJ, and CT. Since the COVID-19 crisis first broke out in Wuhan, we have been leveraging our multicultural network of physicians to help get lifesaving PPE first to doctors in China and now to colleagues in our home.
Since March 20th, to date we have:
● Raised $157,539.32 from 445+ different donors
● Donated PPE to 28 Hospitals, 5 NYPD Precincts, 2 Nursing Homes
● Facilitated PPE purchase orders for 3 Hospitals and NYS Gov

We are uniquely positioned and have been effective thanks to relationships with both physicians in the NY Metro Area and PPE suppliers in China. This has helped us solve the PPE sourcing problem as we have access to vendors whose supplies are already in the US. This means your donations will be able to purchase PPE and deliver it via our distribution network of physicians and volunteer drivers to frontline medical workers as quickly as possible.
Check out our LATEST DONATION SUMMARY a/o April 7th for more information about the donations we have made. We will continue to update you with the progress made! Please reach out if you would like any more information.

This is a multicultural, intergenerational effort. We are affiliated with the Scarsdale Chinese Association , the American TCM Society, and are proud to have the support of Congresswoman Grace Meng, New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim, New York City Council Member Peter Koo, and New York State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin.
And for those who can read Chinese, check out this summary of our efforts and the press we've received on Weixin.
