This is Oscar. He is a community cat that I care for on my street in Delmar. I've been trapping, neutering and releasing (TNR) strays for 12 years here, although I've been able to train a few to be house pets, including my own cat. Until now, I've never asked for any financial help, although a few neighbors have kindly and generously paid for healthcare, services and food for the kitties over the years.

Oscar has come a long way after he discovered our feeding station about a year ago. At first, he wouldn't let me touch him, now he's one of the most affectionate little guys I know.

He has a genetic condition that requires entropion surgery for both eyes. His eyelids roll inward abnormally, which can cause pain, infection and ulcers. I treat him with topical meds, but it's clear that he has some pain and discomfort.

This fine fellow's been wintering in my basement and has mastered the litter box and playing with his new toys. He particularly likes to sneak up on me for laughs. Despite his discomfort, he's VERY loving, vocal and playful. Oscar is quite the character and will make someone a great pet. But first we need to fix his eyes.

I sought out estimates and the lowest actually came from my own vet. The surgery will cost $1,000-1,500, and will take place March 18. Anything you can give will be so appreciated. If there are additional funds, they will be used for food and future vet care for him and Gracie, the other community cat I care for on my street, and other strays that will inevitably show up.
