Update:

Mum has had her 2nd round of treatment and braved the shave

Hello everyone,

Earlier this month we, as a family, were rocked with the horrible news that my Mum, Karen Thomas, was diagnosed with Small Cell Cancer of the stomach.

What started off as shoulder pain she was then rushed in for a CT scan, which revealed a number of masses in numerous parts of the body. After initially being referred to a surgeon, who said there was no way of operating, she was then referred to an oncologist last Wednesday who gave us the sad news that it was too far gone to cure the cancer and without chemo she would only have weeks to live.

Mum started her chemo on Friday 11th October and has gone from working full time as a driving instructor to having to quit her job and stay home due to risk of infection and the pain she is in, this has obviously been a huge shock and a massive financial strain.

All of the family are helping and contributing as much as possible but we thought Mum deserves to live the rest of her life without the stress and strain and we believe she deserves to have the chance to make some memories and enjoy, to the fullest, the time she has left with us.
