Many of you may know the Whitten Family. Torey was diagnosed 8 years ago with Appendiceal cancer and was given 6 months to live. It has been 8 years of treatments, appointments, surgeries, and medicines. To say Torey has beat the odds is an understatement. Torey and his wife Karyn have 3 children. He served our community as a Grand Rapids Police Officer for 22 years, 6 years on SRT (Swat Team) before cancer made it impossible for him to work. Karyn was an X-Ray Tech for 20 years. She is now needed at home to help Torey with all his daily functions. To put it bluntly, Torey struggles with blood clots, weight loss, nausea & vomiting, fatigue, weakness, and dehydration. He only has one lung oxygen is always needed. If the organ is not necessary for survival it has been removed to help eradicate some of cancer. Torey has fought like his beloved Wolverines do, never giving up and always looking toward the future. We have set up this GoFundMe to help offset medical bills, many prescriptions, housing needs, and food.

Putting Torey in hospice would mean giving up. They have been fighting and winning for 8 years, trying new treatments and experimental medicines. Giving up has never been acceptable to the Whitten family, and Torey will fight until the end. Unfortunately, it is time for this community to rally around one of our own!
