Gwendolyn's Medical Crisis & Recovery
Donation protected
On Monday November 27, Gwendolyn's family noticed confusion and slurred speech. She was soon diagnosed with a Non-Traumatic Subarachnoid Hemorrhage to her brain. She had three surgeries in quick succession. The first surgery was to repair the rupture, which appeared successful. A few hours later it ruptured again and they did a second surgery to repair it again. That night her brain began to swell and another surgery was needed to relieve the pressure. Today Gwendolyn is in critical condition in the ICU. She is sedated, on a ventilator, and her future is uncertain.
Gwendolyn Stangel is a devoted partner to her husband Foster, a loving mother to twin 7th graders, and an indispensable staff member at the school where she works. Gwendolyn is vibrant, kind, hilarious, artistically gifted, a rabid knitter, wickedly smart, a force to reckon with, feisty, and oh so human. She is loved! She posts frequently about her knitting adventures and art projects. She shares of herself by being open and vulnerable about her struggles and successes in life.
What happens next to Gwendolyn and her family is unpredictable. What is certain is that her recovery will be long and hard. Please donate what you can to support her family's ability to be by her side with less stress.
