Cassie’s Fight

Today my sweet niece Cassie Kidd begins her FIGHT to LIVE! (9/20/22)
KIND, CARING, CASSIE is how I'd describe this sweet girl. Young, healthy, 23 year old; finishing up her last two semesters of Ministry school, working, serving in her church, hanging out with friends & family like most young adults until a few weeks ago.

Cassie developed a shoulder pain a few months ago but thought it was just a pulled muscle from exercise. Fast forward to Aug. 17th; the pain had gotten worse and Cassie told her parents she couldn’t take much more. Instead of waiting until morning they went to the ER at the hospital near their home. Xray showed nothing but the Dr wanted to do an MRI to be thorough.
I remember getting a family text from my sister Tina, Cassie's Mom; "We are at the ER with Cassie and she could use some prayers. They've found a mass on her shoulder they are very concerned about." She was transferred by rescue that evening to Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, FL and admitted for several days. She was seen by an MDAnderson Cancer doctor. MRI, several CT scans and Biopsy all confirmed the heartbreaking news "CANCER"

Cassie was diagnosed with EWING SARCOMA which is an aggressive soft tissue/bone cancer typically found in children & young adults between 10-20 years of age which often includes the same symptoms as a sports injury.

Cassie shared this video on Facebook when she was first diagnosed. What an amazing young lady who truly exudes a peace that can only come from a relationship with Christ! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0YQ6afKSmzWuXjaGBq4CtGPMStN3mRJLZHanpHYW7jZRhWRYfmPWNnf24SMjNEY78l&id=100000395344097
Further testing has confirmed it is Stage 4 with another spot on her rib, a lymph node and two spots on Cassie's lungs which brings us to today. After being seen by MD Anderson & Cancer Specialist of North FL Cassie was referred to a Sarcoma specialist in Gainesville, FL at UF Health Children's Hospital. We believe God has provided the absolute BEST medical Team available who will lead the way in her fight!

CASSIE IS not in a battle but in a FIGHT FOR LIFE ITSELF and it begins today as she is hospitalized in Gainesville, FL for lymph node removal, bone marrow biopsy and the first intense chemo treatment. She will travel to Gainesville every TWO WEEKS AND BE HOSPITALIZED 2 to 4 days EACH TIME for 29 WEEKS of intense chemo with a pause for surgery at 15 weeks and then continue with chemo.
Words can't express our gratitude for the many prayers already prayed for our BRAVE Cassie, her parents Tina & Joe Kidd and brothers Joey & Jordan and all of us who love her.

As you can imagine this will be a very expensive journey especially for a 23 year old just starting out in life. She had no insurance but was able to be added to her parent's policy as an adult child for $400 a month. She will have no income being unable to work, gas & travel expense, insurance on top of medical expenses & medication insurance will not cover. Not to mention the normal cost of living.
Cassie is strong and brave and taking this on like a WARRIOR. She loves Jesus with all her heart and believes she will beat the odds. She is an inspiration to us all! Cassie has a strong support team with family & friends who love her dearly! She has an ARMY of PRAYER WARRIORS who've come along side her in this FIGHT! She has a loving church family supporting her and most importantly Cassie has a BIG GOD who will carry her through this. Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
We are praying & believing for a Miracle and complete healing. Our God made the blind see, caused the lame to walk & even raised the dead to live again. He continues to do miracles today. Our God is able!

Many of you have asked how you can help during this time. In the Bible, 1 Thessalonians 5:11 talks about the importance of encouraging one another & building each other up. I read a quote recently which said , "BE THE RAINBOW IN SOMEONE ELSES CLOUD". What a blessing many of you have already been!
My prayer is that this Gofund me account will be an opportunity for others to do just that and help ease a little of the financial burden that is to come so that Cassie and her family can FOCUS on each other & the FIGHT to get through this horrible diagnosis!
From the bottom of our hearts we ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible join Cassie's fight by giving. (any amount will be a blessing)
We thank you for your support and pray God will bless you for your kindness.

I'd also like to share something EXCITING that happend in Cassie's life this weekend. God placed a special young man named Reid in her life this year and two weeks before her ER visit he had asked Cassie's dad,Joe, if he could marry Cassie to which he said yes and gave his blessings. This weekend Reid surprised her and proposed to Cassie. How exciting!! We are believing God has big plans for these two and thank the Lord for the blessing Reid is in Cassie's life!

Thank you for your prayers and generosity.
Sincerely,
Cassie's Aunt Julie
