Marianne D'Amico-Ferrari is a loved teacher who has taught in Trumbull for the past 29 years. She is a mom of three incredible children, Katelyn, Nicholas and Mallory. In 2024, her youngest, Mallory, was diagnosed with
Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. At the time Mallory was ranked in the top of her high school class, had just gotten her driver's permit, began volunteering at the Discovery Museum, and was learning to play guitar. All that came to a sudden stop. Instead of starting her junior year of high school, Mallory immediately began chemotherapy at Yale New Haven Hospital. While everyone remained hopeful that after extensive treatments Mallory would be in remission and beginning her senior year of high school, her cancer returned. After consulting with doctors at Yale and Memorial Sloan Kettering, Mallory underwent a bone marrow transplant, where she and her mom spent 24 days in the hospital. As part of Mallory's continued treatment, she will now resume chemotherapy for the next year. Mallory’s illness is complicated; she attends multiple appointments that require her mom to be present. Her body is immunocompromised and she is very susceptible to germs. It is for these reasons that Marianne has had to take a leave of absence from work. By January 1st, Marianne will have exhausted all of her sick and personal days and her FMLA, Family Medical Leave Act, will run out. In addition to being without monthly income, Marianne, who is a single mom, will be required to pay $3900 a month to keep her health insurance. Up to this point Marianne has used all of her own resources and all of her money has been exhausted. Her family is in need of help since there are not any government benefits available to help the family in this situation.
Any donation, no matter how small, would be a great help to their family as Mallory continues treatment. But even more important, as you read this, please say a prayer for Mallory, and please keep her in your prayers as she continues on this journey of faith towards recovery.
