Help Jim Heal

In August of this year, our dear friend Jim suffered a catastrophic accident, falling four stories and sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Jim lost a lot of blood, suffered a collapsed lung, sustained broken bones including several vertebrae, his left arm, and severe breaks in his legs and feet. For a while we weren’t sure if he would pull through, but the work of the trauma unit and surgeons at Stroger Hospital was nothing short of miraculous. The good news is that his spinal cord is intact but saving his legs proved much more difficult. With multiple surgeries to repair the damage behind him, Jim is responding incredibly well to treatment, but is still experiencing tremendous pain. It will be a long time before he’s able to walk again much less work. At this point, it’s uncertain how fully he will heal but, given his injuries, it’s very possible that he may have long-term mobility issues.

While Jim has some health insurance through his work, his ability to make an income during this time is severely impeded - and we all know insurance doesn't cover everything. The stress of that is weighing heavily on him since he the sole breadwinner of his family. All funds raised will go toward paying for medical expenses not covered by insurance and living expenses. Since Jim will need to stay at a rehab facility for a long time before he can walk again, he will need funds for things like mortgage payments, utility bills, and making his home accessible.
