Oscar Mata, his wife and three young children were driving home on Feb 10th when a drunk driver blew through a four-way stop sign and crashed into them at 50 mile an hour. After the initial impact, the drunk driver continued to rev his engine, driving his truck further over their car, crushing the roof in on the children before the police showed up. The impact sent their entire family to the hospital. Oscar, the family's primary bread winner, sustained the worst injuries, breaking his pelvis and four ribs. His wife and children escaped with trauma and minor injuries. His children now fight over the middle seat in the back instead of the front seat :(
For any of you who have worked with Signature Surfaces NW in Eugene, you probably know Oscar. He is kind, patient and professional. He is the best at what he does, he is a perfectionist that has worked on and installed hundreds of granite kitchens for you. He is an extremely hard worker and has never missed a day of work. He supports his whole family with this job, which he loves. He is an exceptional person in every way.
There is nothing harder for Oscar than to sit at home and wait for his body to heal while his co-workers pick up the slack and his bills and family's needs pile up. When I tell him that I am going to raise money for him to cover his expenses while he heals, his eyes fill with tears of gratitude and he just says "thank you, Shaun".
All of the money raised will go toward living expenses Oscar and his family will need while he heals. This money will pay for rent, utilites, food and medical expenses.
I am Oscar's boss and friend. I am asking you, the genorous people of the world, to help give something to a man that gives everything, every day, to everyone else. He takes nothing and gives everything. This is a rare opportunity to give back to a person who would only accept such generosity because it is a time of such great need.
