Ryan DiMaggio's Road to Recovery

If you know Ryan then you know that he is one of the most compassionate, caring, and hardworking people you will ever meet. We can’t leave out the fact that he can always make you laugh, especially when reminiscing over his epic pranks! Amongst his friends & family, Ryan has always been a pillar of strength: the first to lend a hand or an ear in a time of need. That makes this story even more difficult to share.

On October 22nd, Ryan was on his way to work when a car pulled out in front of him, resulting in a severe automobile accident. He was rushed to Shock Trauma/ICU at the University of Maryland. His injuries include two broken wrists, a broken right femur, a shattered pelvis & hip socket, left knee ligament damage, lung trauma, and aortic pseudoaneurysm. On October 24th, the first of many surgeries was performed. Although the surgery last about 10 hours it went well and Ryan has begun the very early stages of recovery.  On the 26th, he had a second surgery to focus on his wrists and hip. As of the 29th, he is resting and working to regain strength in his lungs so that they can remove the ventilator. Ryan is still critical, but in a stable condition. This will be a long journey with additional surgeries, physical therapy, and relearning how to walk.

Ryan was born and raised in Carroll County and graduated from Francis Scott Key in 2013. In May of 2020, Ryan married his beautiful wife Meagan and bought their first home in Manchester, MD. As a member of the DiMaggio family, Ryan is known by many throughout our community. He works as a plumber and is quite the handy man! If you know the DiMaggio family, you know that they are loving, kind, generous, and have the biggest hearts that share the love of God with everyone and anyone they encounter – Ryan is no exception. God has always been at the epicenter of his life. His faith and family have shaped him into the man that he is today.

Ryan's grit and determination are unmatched. We all know that he will fight and work through these injuries during his recovery. The next few weeks will be spent recovering from surgeries in the hospital.
The motivation for this GoFundMe campaign is to support Ryan and his wife, Meagan, through his recovery. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. The fund is being organized by Firm Foundation Church which is working closely with Meagan.  Funds will be used to help by assisting with expenses like medical bills, travel expenses for family, rehabilitation, housing adjustments or other needs they may have.

The journey ahead is long and full of uncertainty. With the love and support of family, friends and the community it is our belief that anything is possible.
