My name is Deborah Colston. I am 22 years old. I was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma or commonly known as Kidney Cancer nearly a year ago now. It started with a tumor in my right kidney about the size of an avocado seed. I tried traditional chemo at first but found it to be too aggresive and arduous. I instead tried 2 diffetrent types of chemotherapy, one is called Cytoxen which they inject directly into the tumor and the other was Biological Chemo. Biological chemo basically retrains your white blood cells to attack the cancerous cells, which is an alternative to traditional chemo which attacks everything in your body. Since then, the tumor in my kidney is gone and there is no trace of it left! However, the cancer has since then metastasized to my colon. the medical term is Carcinoid Tumors. I already knew that my quality of life was MY priority, which is why I leaned towards alternative treatment. I did try radiation, and found great success in reducing the cancerous tissue which began at 20 inches. Regretably, the radiation is not working the way that it was in the beginning. If they increase the amount of radiation then it would cause irreversible damage to my colon, digestive system, and possibly my heart. Luckily, the cancerous tissue is now at 14 inches; an amount that can "safely" be removed without impacting my life negatively later in the future. The plan is to remove it hopefully within the next month. So long as I can gain more weight and maintain a healthy immune system. This surgery my doctors are performing is not only going to be difficult but expensive. I've have been thus far able to find grants and sponsers to aid me on my journey. I would not have been able to get to this point if it were not for their help but now I need more help. This is the home run for me and I'm ready to start living again. Thank you.
