Gravy is our newest family dog and our first Golden Retriever. His luck needs a boost. Just 5 months old, Gravy has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, pulmonic stenosis. His prognosis without surgery is not good - 6 to 12 months.
With a successful balloon valvuloplasty he could have a normal life. We have been appraised that the cost of surgery is $5,000. The vet school at Auburn University is the closest place we can get it done and will incur travel expenses over at least 3 trips.
Gravy is the sweetest, cuddliest boy. He loves to romp and play with his big sister, Nadja (our two year old German Shepherd). His energy levels are not the best, however, and those play sessions are often followed with big cuddles and long naps.
He has, in these last 6 weeks, utterly stolen our hearts. Everyone, canine and human alike, falls instantly in love with him.
We do not have enough savings or pet insurance to cover his surgery. The prospect of extinguishing this golden light from the world prematurely is just too much.
We are appealing to you, our family, friends, and community to help us save the sunshine that is Gravy. Any support you can offer is most welcome.
In gratitude,
Samantha & Dave Hall
