Hi everyone,

This is my sweet girl Bella, though most people know her as Bilo. She’s a 14-year-old Boston Terrier/Beagle mix with the biggest heart and the gentlest soul, and very well known for her precious smile I adopted her from the Oxford pound back in 2013 when she was just two years old. She had already been through two homes where she wasn’t treated kindly and came to me anxious and uncertain, but over the past 12 years, we’ve built an unbreakable bond that I cherish deeply.

She is my entire world. Bilo is happiest when she’s cuddled up beside me, sleeping under the blankets, or following me around the house (also very food motivated ). I’m “her person,” and we’ve been inseparable since the day I brought her home.

Earlier this year, in February, Bilo started having accidents in the house, then began straining to pee, and eventually started urinating blood and clots. One day when the bleeding was so bad and couldn't wait for a vet appointment we rushed her to the animal hospital, where she was diagnosed with a UTI and prescribed antibiotics and gallbladder medication. Despite several rounds of treatment and the high costs that came with it, her symptoms never fully went away.

After switching to a new, more attentive vet, we finally have answers: her bladder is full of stones. She’s been put on a special prescription diet to try to break them down, but it’s been upsetting her stomach and hasn’t provided much relief. The vet has recommended a surgery to remove the stones, which should finally end her pain and discomfort.

The surgery is estimated to cost around $2,000, not including aftercare, medications, and to take into consideration a 20% increase in cost in the case complications occur during the procedure. Between previous hospital and office visits, tests, and medications, my savings have been stretched thin.
