Dear Friends,
We are writing as friends of Guzal, an extraordinary young woman currently pursuing her studies at Bard College. Just a year ago, Guzal immigrated to this country, leaving behind her homeland, Tajikistan, where her family endured unspeakable hardships, including the loss of their home due to a fire ignited by her abusive father. Guzal's determination brought her and her mother to safety in the U.S., and they seek a more permanent solution to escape the violence that threatens them back home.
In their pursuit of a secure future, Guzal and her mother are actively seeking legal assistance to navigate the immigration process. Her mother is getting consultation now to file for asylum and Guzal is applying for a Green Card which would secure her stay in the States to be able to help her mom both financially and emotionally. This is a critical step for Guzal since if not done now she will have to leave States upon her graduation.
The total cost of legal consultation so far amounts to $6,000 for the lawyers' services, plus an additional $1,795 for government fees. As friends who deeply care for Guzal and her mother, we are reaching out to our community for support. If you find it in your heart to do so, please consider supporting Guzal and her mother as they endeavor to build a secure new life in the USA.
