Guy Vinoray is a positive person with an outgoing personality. He is a family-oriented husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend and he is also my son. Guy is loved by many, especially by his family and his five beautiful children. He has a great sense of humor, an unforgettable smile and laughter that touches people’s hearts.

In 2013 Guy was diagnosed with rectal cancer and underwent grueling chemo-radiation treatment, a ten hour abdominal surgery, a second eight hour surgery due to an infection and another round of intense chemotherapy. Guy's cancer was declared to be in remission in the summer of 2014. In 2015, Guy underwent a third abdominal surgery, an ileostomy take-down. With his health stable, my son decided to remarry. In December 2015, our family got the good news that my son and his wife were expecting twins! Six months into his wife's pregnancy, my son underwent a routine blood analysis, and results showed that there was good reason to conduct a precautionary follow-up CT scan. The ensuing CT scan revealed a reoccurance of cancer in the pelvic region. Treatment would require chemotherapy which he feared because he clearly remembered the agonizing side effects that made him weak and sick during his initial treatment.

The following month, after serious consideration of the debilitating side effects that come with intense chemotherapy and the real possibility of not being able to be physically present at the birth of his children due to those side effects, Guy started a very physically exhausting chemotherapy regimen. As he was wrapping up his second round of chemo, Guy and his wife learned that the twins were ready to join the family. Still intensely weakened by the second round of chemo, he was able to help his wife give birth to healthy twin girls. Immediately after the birth of the twins, due to the side effects of his current chemotherapy treatment, Guy suffered a complication at his initial surgery site that puts him at risk for infection and forced him to stop chemotherapy treatment due to the risk of septic shock. This complication requires Guy to have surgery in order to continue his cancer treatment plan.

With a positive outlook, Guy will undergo a fourth major abdominal surgery that will take place away from his home with a team of doctors who specialize in gastrointestinal cancer and abdominal reconstruction. Our family, and especially my son, believes that this option will give him the best medical attention and a fighting chance of beating his cancer. Recovery will take some time because Guy has to heal from the abdominal surgery before he will be able to resume his cancer treatment as planned.  Funds raised will help with the stress of medical bills, lost wages and travel costs so my son can focus on healing and family time. If you are willing and able to donate, my family and I would deeply appreciate your support. We are grateful for the donations. Please keep my son Guy in your thoughts and prayers.  Aloha and thank you,
Soledad
