As many of know my father was diagnosed with cancer a month ago. Unfortunately this disease has rapidly begun to take its toll. He was hospitalized 2 weeks ago for life threatening blood levels. While in the hospital they were performing a test and as he simply raised his arm it broke. They then had to schedule surgery to place a rod into his arm. After surgery his hemoglobins were extremely low so he then needed a blood transfusion. He was able to go home, but that was brief as he fractured his L1 vertebrae by simply sitting. He then was readmitted to stabilize his spine and receive his first injection of chemo.
Obviously this has taken a toll on all of us emotionally and financially. With hospital stays, surgeries, home nurse visits (now that he is back home) and the chemo therapy alone at $2,000 per month we are trying everything we know to help and relieve my parents from the enormous stress of the financial burden.
My father is not one who asks for help, he has always been the one to go above and beyond to help others, but it’s our time to do everything we can think of to help him.
Thank you!
Becca
