My name is Angus Argent-Smith, and I'm a Year 11 boarding student at Scots All Saints College, Bathurst NSW. I am from a farm near a tiny town called Rankins Springs, which has no high school. As the closest high school is located 75km away in Griffith, it was decided that I should go to boarding school.
On Saturday 7th December, at the end of the school year, I will be attempting to ride home on my push bike in one day from Bathurst to Rankins Springs. This is an approximately 365km ride and I will be doing it to raise awareness and funds for the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) https://icpa.com.au/nsw. The ICPA is a very important charity that works to ensure that all students who live in rural and remote Australia have the same access to education as our city cousins. The ICPA has helped both me and my brothers, as well as many other children, to give them opportunities that they wouldn't otherwise have. The ICPA is run solely by volunteers.
As boarding school has given me so many opportunities, especially in sports which involved a recent highlight of me placing fourth at the World Multisport Championships in Townsville for Duathlon in August, or more recently coming second overall at the Panorama Punish, I would like to give back to ICPA so they can continue to give other children like myself these opportunities.
