Hey guys, if you follow my Instagram account you might know that we have been fostering Gus for the last couple of weeks (our 21st foster, woohoo!). He’s a 10 year old pit mix and a total love bug. Last week the vet diagnosed him with degenerative myelopathy, which is a terminal spinal disease. They estimate he only has about two years to live. He is already struggling to walk and having issues with his bladder, and they say eventually he will lose function of his back legs completely. This essentially rendered Gus unadoptable, and we couldn’t bear the thought of having him live out his last remaining year or two in the shelter or jump from foster home to foster home, so we decided to adopt him, and today we made it official! Its going to be a very hard road for Gus, and tough on us emotionally and financially, but we want him to have the best last year or two he can. Full of naps in the sun on our deck and cuddling with Miles and Coop. We are going to figure this out no matter what it takes, but if you feel compelled to donate towards care for Gus, any little bit will really make a huge difference for us. Any donations will go towards vet appointments, harnesses, ramps, a wheelchair, and other treatments that will help prolong his lifespan and comfort. Any donations we are so incredibly grateful for. We have already started making modifications to our house, but we have a long road ahead of us as Gus gets worse.
